Accessibility

Last updated October 25, 2026

We want every educator to be able to use this site, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or reduced motion. Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

What we’ve done

Text and buttons meet WCAG contrast ratios on our dark background, and buttons on our green use near-black text, never white.

Everything can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible green focus outline, and there’s a “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.

Pages use real headings, lists, and landmarks so screen readers can move around them.

Meaningful images have written descriptions. Decorative textures and art are hidden from screen readers.

Body text is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for readers with low vision, at 16 pixels or larger. Our distressed display fonts are used for headlines only.

If your device asks for reduced motion, the site’s animations stop. Nothing on the site flashes.

Any video we add will have captions; our content system won’t publish a video without a captions file.

What we know isn’t perfect yet

Our games are separate from this website and are still in development, and their accessibility is improving with each release.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on this site doesn’t work for you, email basha@dreadknotjuicepress.com. Tell us the page and what happened, and we’ll work on a fix and a way to get you what you need in the meantime.
